Years after his service in the Israel Defense Forces during the 1982 war in Lebanon, Ari Folman found himself trapped in an indelicate dance with his own memory. Were his recollections about bathing in Beirut’s seaside as flares lit the sky true — or were they suppressing his nightmarish visions of a massacre?
Folman’s animated Golden Globe–winning documentary follows his search for the truth about his own experience and the mass murder of Palestinian refugees in the Sabra and Shatila camps.
For this special event the music has been removed from the film, and the Wordless Music Orchestra will perform the soundtrack, creating a new layer to the experience of what appears on screen.
Special guest Ari Folman, writer, director and star of the film in conversation with Ambassador Ido Aharoni.
