Punch-Drunk Love
screening + live score w/ special guest Jon Brion
March 5 & March 19, 2016

Wordless Music presents our second collaboration with filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson: a world premiere live score and screening of PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE (2002), with Jon Brion’s original score performed live by a 50-piece orchestra.

Jon Brion will sit in and perform with the orchestra as special guest for these performances, along with Joanna Newsom in LA and Norah Jones in NYC to perform Harry Nilsson’s “He Needs Me,” sung by Shelley Duvall in the film.

For this premiere event, we have partnered with Sony Pictures and PTA to produce a new, music-less print of the film for live orchestral accompaniment, led by conductor Ryan McAdams and percussionists Yuri Yamashita-Morales and Wilson Torres. In New York, the score will be performed at BAM’s Howard Opera House by the Wordless Music Orchestra; and in Los Angeles, members of the orchestra will join LA’s leading new-music ensemble, wild Up, reprising our collaboration from last year’s sold-out performances of UNDER THE SKIN with Mica Levi at the Regent Theater.

Tickets for these very special shows are now on sale, and won’t last long. That’s that. So here we go…
